Walsh Construction Co. is proud to host our Community Golf Tournament at the prestigious Riverside Golf & Country Club on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
We know in this challenging time our beneficiaries need our support more than ever to continue providing their vital services to the less fortunate in our community!
Since 1968, Outside In has transformed thousands of lives by helping break the cycles of chronic homelessness, poverty, and poor health among Portland’s LGBTQIA+ community, people of color, those experiencing homelessness, and the underserved. Our health clinic and young adult programs strive to meet people where they are and provide safe, affirming spaces for our community to receive judgment-free care and support.
ROSE is rooted in the belief that affordable housing gives people the opportunity to build better lives. ROSE has been improving neighborhood conditions in outer southeast Portland since 1992, by offering permanently affordable homes to more than 458 families with low-income. ROSE also supports residents with programs and resources to strengthen families, build resilient communities, and maintain stable housing. In 2019, ROSE completed two new projects: Orchards of 82nd and Woody Guthrie Place, providing an additional 112 affordable homes for families.
Transition Projects exists to help those experiencing homelessness transition successfully into housing. With over 50 years of experience providing shelter, housing and supportive services for very low-income people, the agency is recognized across the region for their work with veterans, women, people with disabilities, and other highly vulnerable groups. Founded in 1969, they operate out of 12 Metro-area locations, enabling our team of over 325 employees to assist 10,000 people each year through programs designed to help people survive the streets, find housing, and retain their housing. In 2019 alone, more than 1,100 formerly homeless people found safe, affordable housing in the four-county area with our agency’s support. We are also the largest provider of publicly-funded shelter services in Oregon. On any given night, we shelter more than 800 people, including women, men and couples. Finally, through our Resource Center, we serve 400-500 unique individuals daily, 365 days-a-year, with services ranging from hygiene and medical support to shelter and housing assistance.
We want to thank all of our partners for making this a special day for our participants and especially our beneficiaries.
We are very thankful to our friends at Merit Electric for taking the lead sponsor position as our presenting sponsor. Here is our event....
Each participant will receive a Wellness Kit on their cart from our friends at EC Electric. Your Wellness Kit includes a face mask, hand sanitizer, gloves and a temperature strip.
Flagsticks will remain in the hole at all times and are not to be removed. Holes will have a foam insert so the ball does not submerge below the surface. Balls touching foam will be deemed to have been holed. All rakes have been removed. Please plan to smooth your footprints with your club when exiting the bunkers.
We encourage every participant to utilize face coverings and exercise standard social distancing practices while participating in the event.
We will have one sanitized golf cart for each participant thanks to our cart sponsors; CalPortland and McDonald & Wetle! Please note: Participants are allowed to ride two per cart if you live in the same household or rode in the same vehicle to the event.
We want to thank Skyline Sheet Metal for providing every participant with an insulated beverage container featuring the event logo. You will find yours on your cart when you arrive. Cheers!
We will be starting all groups off #1 Tee using tee times beginning at 8:00 am with the last group teeing off at 2:00 pm. Official tee times and groupings will be available here on this website on Wednesday, August 19th.
We will be utilizing The Walsh Scramble format of play. All groups will begin on the forward most tee on the first hole. Each golfer will hit a tee shot. Players will select the best shot and the other three players will bring their ball to that best position. The group will repeat this format until the ball is holed.
Once holed, the group's score will determine the tee to be used on the next hole. If the group makes a...
Each group will have one score per hole and there will be no handicaps. Please remember no one player's drive can be used more than nine (9) times. Our female golfers will play every hole from the forward most tees.
Five lucky participants will be selected to take one shot from 165 yards on the 18th hole for a chance to take home $50,000 and provide a second $50,000 to our beneficiaries! A big thank you to Williamsen & Bleid for making this possible!
The first hole-in-one by an amateur golfer on each par 3 is worth $10,000 with $5,000 going to our beneficiaries and $5,000 going to the golfer hitting the perfect shot! We want to thank our partners for their generosity in providing this wonderful opportunity to make a difference with one swing of the club!
Just in case, we will also be tracking the closest to the pin on each par 3 because our friends are providing a wonderful gift just in case no one makes the hole-in-one!
Bring your long ball to the 10th Tee...there we will use the Track Man to determine the distance of your tee shot. Our friends at Benson Industries have a terrific prize for our longest drive of the day. You will have nine holes to warm up so no excuses!
We will be utilizing Golf Genius to provide live scoring of the event. Each group will be responsible for inputting their score after each hole. The scores will then populate the live leaderboard online! A big thank you to Ron Rust Drywall for making this possible...Check back before the event for the link to keep up to date with all the action!
